The most exciting part of my week was becoming
certified as an Advanced Open Water diver!
During the process I was
fortunate enough to dive a new site, Las Eras, where we saw a huge
grouper lounging underneath one of the rocks.
Later on we saw some
Scorpion fish and loads of jelly fish on my fish identification dive at
Abades.
But by far the best dive of the week was at Tabaiba. Seeing the
beautiful shipwreck during the day was amazing, but being able to
explore the same site at night was the most incredible underwater
adventure I’ve been on. After descending with the lights off in the
pitch black, then turning on our torches at the bottom of the ocean, I
honestly had the feeling of being an astronaut exploring a strange
planet in outer space!
The more dives I accumulate, the better I get at
recognizing the wide array of marine fishes in the area. Pretty soon I
will be confident enough to know all the usual fish we see at the dive
sites. I cannot wait to continue on to become a PADI Rescue diver next week.
The more I dive, the more I want to get back in the water and explore!
