Two night dives – I feel like I am becoming an expert!!

Mermaid Diving Divemaster Internship Weekly Blog Buzz Week 3

On Monday we met up with Vera and Wendell again, and this time we went to Abades in the evening, and once again the reef did not disappoint with marine life. After a nice warming cup of coffee we went back out for my first night dive, which at first was a peculiar feeling, but after a few minutes you soon relax and enjoy a familiar dive site in a whole new light – in this case torch light.

Tuesday we met up with Tracey and Simon who where both open water divers. We headed to Abades again which had a very familiar feel about it! After a tired start I soon woke up and once again enjoyed another great dive.

Later on in the week we once again had a returning customer – this time it was Craig. We started with an evening dive at Radazul. After an hours surface interval enjoying the evening sun, we packed the kit up and moved to Tabaiba to do the wreck dive. I really enjoyed diving the wreck for the first time and found it really interesting. After our dive we went to a little cafe, had a coffee and a game of pool. Feeling refreshed we once again dug out the torches and went back in to do the wreck on a night dive…. and this was amazing! Since you couldn’t see the wreck until you were right on top of it, when you finally see it, it  looms over you making you feel small in the dark. It was a great experience.

The next day we went to El Puertito to the turtles again this time with Tracey and Simon. It was the first time Tracey had seen the turtles and like most people experiencing it for the first time she was over the moon at diving with them.

Later in the week I got to do my PADI Rescue Diver Course we did the rescue dives 1 and 2, which was alot more fun then I expected it to be. Next we went to Las Eras where we saw many types of fish which were a bit bigger than the ones we normally see. On the second dive there was a bit of a current on the way back but everyone managed fine. Afterwards it was nice to relax in the beautiful sun shine which is the standard weather for Tenerife! :)
